My family and I are certainly on the "Food Journey". Knowing the foods to avoid and ones to embrace with open arms. It seems such a natural progression to begin the "Chemical Journey" to avoid exposure to all sorts of crap lurking in the products we use in the home or on our body.
When Conscious Cosmetics asked me to review their range of organic make up, I was excited to try it out.
Conscious Cosmetics is a website that launched late last year. The owner, Loretta is based in Brisbane. She's leading the way to educate women about the toxic ingredients that appear in every day products. Conscious Cosmetics stocks a diversity of natural and safe product ranges from hair care to lipsticks, men’s products and baby care products that have all been previously screened for safety and any signs of toxicity.
Loretta says that “Without regulated safety assessments being done prior to a product going to market, there is no way of knowing what cumulative effect these ingredients will have on the health of the people using them. Toxic might be cheaper for the manufacturer but it is definitely not better for the end consumer.”
I tell you what. That's bloody scary.
|Inika Mineral Foundation.|
|Inika Liquid Foundation|
I found the colour examples on their website very good, making it easy to identify which colour was best suited to me. Both colours ended up being an excellent match for my skin.
The first thing I noticed about both products was just how great they smell! My old foundation smelt like an industrial wasteland! The liquid foundation is very easy to apply and I only needed the tiniest of squirts to cover my face. It has a pump applicator so you can get every last drop out of it! The mineral powder foundation was also excellent. I apply a little dusting of the powder just over my nose and it covers well.
These products are excellent and are on par with the most expensive of cosmetics on the market, I know because I used to use them! The only difference is these products are non toxic, heck they are even good for your skin. I was also surprised to see Inika cosmetics are made in Australia.
I loved these products so much I'm going to purchase the concealer as well!

Switching to all natural beauty products can be quite the task. I think a good idea would be to replace the items you use a lot of first. So look for alternatives to toothpaste, deodorants and soaps and then look at replacing the more expensive items slowly. I'm nearly there with replacing our personal products with more natural and organic alternatives.
