I think I was just sick in my mouth. Lycra Denim

As a stay at home Mum and a regular at the shops I first saw them a few months ago, on the bums and legs of mostly pre teens and teenagers. Also on Skinny Bitches. (And good on you. Please don't leave a comment and tell me I am skinny bashing I am simply being amusing).

Lycra Demin. Or Jeggings. (Jeans + Leggings)

Know what I am talking about? They are leggings, but made to look like jeans. So they are lycra and they are usually a deep blue, to emulate real jeans and they also have that denim stiching like real denim has.

And then I saw the Supre ads advertising them. For "Girls who want it now". Apparently. Excuse me but what are you saying here? What do girls want now? Cheap clothes that will fall apart shortly after being washed? No we don't want that now. Or are you saying that Supre fashion is very scampy and will have you looking like a hooker so you can "get it now"? I'm confused.

I have not been in a Supre shop for a VERY LONG TIME. I used to go once upon a time with my sister when I was just a wee lass and I had just started driving. It was cheap and good back then. But now not so much. I mean. That place is seriously overmerchandised. I can't get MYSELF in there, let alone a bloody pram. So I don't go in there. Also the prices aren't as cheap as they used to be. To be honest I would rather go someplace else.

And then there are the security guards manning the front entrance, checking everyone's bag as you leave. You think I want to steal from this place? Seriously? If I was going to steal I would most certainly go next door to Country Road, possibly Witchery. Not here. Anyplace but here. Getting caught would be image destroying.

Once again I am getting off topic. I was talking about Lycra Denim.

Lycra demin is horrifying. Don't get me wrong. I love a good legging. I have quite a few pairs now. But trying to copy jeans with any material other than denim is a fashion disaster.

Call the fashion police somebody. Please. Serious crimes are being committed and we need to do something about it before it really takes off.

Are skinny leg jeans not clingy enough to your body that you have to actually wear lycra to get them tighter? Would you like me to spray paint them on for you perhaps?

I'm sorry. Is it just me or are these things BAD? What do you think?

  1. You already know what I would do to wearers of this fashion travesty. Have you ever checked what Supre means according to the Urban dictionary? It's not good, well actually it is if you saw some of the definitions of other things in it... Terribly disturbing when I happened across that searching for, surprisingly, the meaning of Supre. So perhaps don't go look for it, I will tell you and save your eyes from that horrific site. It's slang for a girl of less than stellar (or terribly loose) morals. That's what someone had told my daughter it meant in French, I argued it didn't mean that in French so the proof was required :) So not French but the same anyway... Back to lycra denim... Shoot on sight, Do not ask questions, Number one enemy of the state of fashion.

  2. I hear you. Lycra denim is VILE. Though if I had the figure for it I might wear it. No, actually I wouldn't. And also, I would never go into Supre. I'd rather go naked than wear Supre. Now there's a tagline!

  3. Couldn't agree more!
Leggings are not pants - I often want to tap girls on the shoulder and let them know they have forgotten to put a top on over their leggings!
As for jeggings - they have been offending my eye for a whole season now... please people stop. Just stop.

  4. You know I agree one hundred and ten percent. I don't get it. Buy jeans...buy leggings. They are separate fashion items and should NEVER be worn as one.

  5. Ok obviously I am missing this major fashion disaster because I haven't seen it in action yet. I have seen white see through tops with black bras, black thick tights with white shoes, brown shoes, black skirt and a red top (was she hung over when she got dressed, or did she dress in the dark?). I am now going to be fixated with finding these jeggings so I can have a good puke and a chuckle at the silly sod who thinks this is fashion!

    Thank you Taryn, thank you!
You have just given me one good reason to love this backward town I live in...I have not seen this fashion crime here...yet...I'm sure it'll hit next season! LOL

  7. I have yet to see the jeggings on an adult but have seen them on some of the 10 year old girls. They are skinny and cute so it passes (just). They wear them with a little denim mini skirt so their "bits" are covered. I didn't know they made them for adults! I dare not go to the mall as I may just run smack bang into the jeggings and muffin top combination. Unfortunately there are lots of not-so-skinny girls who believe they are skinny. L

  9. I haven't worn leggings in a VERY long time. Saw a photo the other day of a favourite pair I had, back in the 90s - a medium to dark blue with white roses.

    Noice.

Don't think I'll be buying myself a pair of jeggings any time soon! ;)
